The 2026 Sailing Season Has Begun!

Spring has arrived in Whistler, and with it, the return of sailing on Alta Lake.

We kicked off our annual Boat Launch, bringing the community together to get the fleet back on the water and ready for the season ahead. With a great turnout and plenty of helping hands, boats were rigged, docks came back to life, and the club officially woke up after the winter months.

It was a great opportunity to reconnect, catch up with familiar faces, and welcome the energy that comes with a new season. There’s something special about this day each year — a shared sense of excitement as everything comes together again.

We were also excited to see foilers already out on the water, a sure sign that the season is off to an early and enthusiastic start.

Days like this are a reminder of what makes Whistler Sailing unique. It’s a community that comes together, pitches in, and shares a genuine love for time on the lake. From volunteers and members to new faces joining us this year, it’s the collective effort that makes everything possible.

With the fleet launched and the season officially underway, we’re looking forward to everything ahead — from learn-to-sail programs and youth camps to race nights and long summer evenings on the water.

See you on the lake ⛵

⚓ Kick Off the 2026 Sailing Season with the Annual Boat Launch

We’re getting ready to welcome another season on Alta Lake, and it all starts with our annual Boat Launch.

Join us on Saturday, April 11th from 4–6:30pm as we bring the fleet back to the water and prepare for the months ahead. This is an important day for the club, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make it happen.

This year, we’re launching a bit earlier than usual to support early season programming.

Boat Launch is a hands-on event, and there’s a role for everyone, whether you’re helping move boats, organizing equipment, or lending a hand wherever needed. No experience required, just a willingness to pitch in.

It’s also one of the first chances of the year to reconnect with fellow members, meet new faces, and shake off the winter. There’s nothing quite like seeing the lake come back to life.

Many hands make light work, and your support makes a real difference.

If you’re planning to attend, please RSVP to info@whistlersailing.com so we can plan accordingly.

We look forward to seeing you down at the docks and kicking off the 2026 season together.

  • Wrapping up a windy summer on Alta Lake ⛵

Wrapping up a windy summer on Alta Lake ⛵

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for our 2025 Haul Out and Annual General Meeting this past weekend! It was amazing to see so many familiar faces lending a hand as we packed up the fleet for winter and gathered to celebrate another fantastic year on Alta Lake.

As always, Whistler Sailing runs on volunteer power – your time, effort, and support help keep our programs affordable and our community strong. By lending a hand with tasks like boat haul out, we’re able to save on costs and put more resources directly into programs and equipment for our sailors. From moving boats and tidying the yard, every bit of help truly makes a difference.

It was a windy summer – one to remember! Between our busy Learn to Sail summer camps, adult sessions, race team and foiling days, there was no shortage of action. Thank you to everyone who joined us on the water this season – your enthusiasm keeps the spirit of sailing alive in Whistler.

While most of the boats are now tucked away for the season, the Race Team isn’t done yet! They’ll be heading down to compete in the Pumpkin Bowl Regatta later this month. We wish them fair winds and fast sailing!

⚓ See you on the lake in 2026!

  • 🙌 Community power in action! 🙌

🙌 Community power in action! 🙌

On Sunday we hosted our Facility Work Party – and it was no small job. The plan was ambitious: dismantling an old dock, hauling away garbage, and giving the site a much-needed cleanup.

Even with the rain, a dedicated group of volunteers showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and got it done. The effort, teamwork, and determination were truly inspiring.

The dismantled dock has provided valuable lumber that can be repurposed at Whistler Sailing – a lasting benefit made possible by this amazing community.

We’re so thankful for this team and the community support that keeps Whistler Sailing strong! 💙🙌

  • Thank you for another fantastic summer of camps!

Thank you for another fantastic summer of camps!

As the sails come down and the docks quiet after another busy season, Whistler Sailing Association is reflecting on an incredible summer of youth camps on Alta Lake.

All summer long, kids aged 5–13 joined us to learn the basics of sailing in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Guided by our dedicated instructors, campers discovered everything from rigging and water safety to the thrill of catching their first gust of wind across the lake.

Since 2008, WSA’s mission has been to provide affordable learn-to-sail opportunities for local kids and youth. This summer, that mission came to life once again through laughter, teamwork, and the confidence that grows when young sailors take the helm for the first time.

A huge thank you to every family who joined us this summer. Your support helps keep sailing accessible in our community and ensures that the next generation can experience the joy of wind, water, and Whistler’s unique mountain-lake setting.

While our camps have wrapped for the season, the adventure doesn’t stop here – fall programs and adult courses are just around the corner.

Until next summer, we’ll see you on the water!

  • ⚓🏴‍☠️ Pirate Club Championships – what a night! 🏴‍☠️⚓

    ⚓🏴‍☠️ Pirate Club Championships – what a night! 🏴‍☠️⚓

Last night, the fleet of Pirates battled it out on Alta Lake for our annual Pirate Club Championships. Mother Nature turned it on, serving up a sporty 18–22 knots that kept everyone on their toes!

The course was a windward–leeward–triangle, and the tight racing made for fast upwind legs and screaming reaches – a night to remember!

Congratulations to James Cannon and Triana Cornejo – your 2025 WSA Club Champions!

A huge thank you to all the sailors who came out – you turned the championships into a true showcase of wind, water, and Whistler spirit!
